A photo of my coins helped someone get a $164.50 for a CTU!

Postby henrysmedford » Sun Dec 23, 2012 7:49 pm

A member sent me a PM the other day that someone was using a photo of my coins from the Nightline story to sell the CTU on Ebay and they got a $164.50 for it. I am glad they got that much for it and now after showing the listing to my wife I look a little less nutty to her. You can see the listing here. http://www.ebay.com/itm/140898184356?_trksid=p5197.c0.m619&autorefresh=true

Price seems to be high for a CTU. But, if you can get it, why not?

Seems like a bargain if you think about it. I pay melt for 80% silver....so why not melt for copper thats 95%.

for the metal value its still a decent deal even if can be had cheaper elsewhere...

And you even made Canadian News :D

If he runs it again, you should put one up for sale to coincide with his ending time, using the same photo. Would be funny if he complained to ebay about it.

I had someone use my picture AND description on eBay... I wasn't quite as excited as you, Joe. I reported it.

If you complain about the use of your photo, then the listing will be removed and it ill cost the user some EBAY fees. You might be able to get some royalties from the use of our photo.

I sent the eBayer a note about using Joe's picture. It seems he is a RealCent lurker and knows all about Franklin.

He's a guy who CHOOSES to be second in the picture listing. In fact, he provides the search results by personally scanning every sing webpage on the entire internet every time someone does an image search. THAT'S who it is.

i caught that story on a repost from yahoo. it lead me to penny sorting, then to the copper cave, then to this site! after almost a year of just hunting silver, i turned my attention back to pennies. last week i searched and added several auctions to my ebay watch list. the one with your pic was one! and by the way, several others i have watched on ebay went for over $170. thanks for getting me into this great hobby, i can truly say it all started with that ABC story!
