Well worn but a 1914D nonetheless during today's hand sorting.

You should post that here
http://www.realcent.org/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=20369 and a photo/scan with it as only one are two are only found each year by this group.

You may want to check to make sure it isn't counterfeit; from what I've heard, there are quite a few counterfeits floating around out there.
Congrats anyway, though! If it's authentic, then that's one hell of a find.

Now that's a nice score - Congrats! That blank spot in the coin folder isn't perminant after all.

If you have a flatbed scanner, try using that. Then we can get a good look at the mintmark to see if it is real. Nice find BTW!!

No vdb at the bottom of lincoln's bust I hope. And how is the spacing between the 9 and the 2nd 1? A lot of 44d's were altered.

This thing is very worn down guys. I've had about 5 pairs of the family eyes looking at it under a home magnifying glass and the conclusion is a 1914D and most likely a legit one.
I'm going to take it down to my LCS guy and have him look at it with his jewelry loupe just to confirm. Will take a picture of it today and try and post it to the forum for everyone.

Here is an example of a fake I found last year in a brinks box. I was really excited for about 30 seconds, which is how long it took me to find the eye loupe. It looks like it was out in the wild for a while.

You can definitely tell that that's an altered 1944-D. Thanks for putting it into perspective for us with that picture!

You and me both. Camera photos can't pick up the MM well enough yet to post.
Ordered something that should help me out with the problem. Keeping fingers crossed.
