Large copper bars!

Ok, so I was perusing Provident Metals website checking on the status of my shipment due to come next week. I looked at the copper bullion bars. I find it interesting that bars that weigh 5, 10 or 15 Kilos are now gone! They've been out of stock for quite some time now. I didn't know the demand for these things was so strong! You can still get smaller quantities, but good luck getting anything higher than a 1 Kilo bar at this point.

Thoughts? I do have some copper rounds and a kilo bar that I purchased quite a while back. Will they ever see any real appreciation? I'm guessing not for quite some time, but it's nice to have them nonetheless

Also nice to know that I'm sitting on a few CTU's of the little copper pennies! ;)

Now, if only my silver stash was this large..... :(

They always have a booth at the local coin show I go to, and lots of big copper bars, and lots of people paying cold cash money for them too.

My first thought was that they finally sold what they had and decided not to buy anymore right now.... I may be wrong but there doen't seem to be a very strong market for large bars???

I can sell them as fast as I can get them. I usually get a batche of 65 pound every 3-4 weeks and they are gone in a few days.

Well, it appears that even the smaller denominations are disappearing. The 1 kilo, 1 and 1/2 pound sizes. All that remains in the copper bullion section are the 1 oz rounds and bars...and those have begun to vanish as well.

Copper bullion...Will copper eventually become the next silver? I'm sure it will be a few years before these things begin to see any significant rise in value, but it doesn't hurt to diversify
into other metal type investments. Time will tell, I suppose.

That's what I was thinking, but maybe the market or demand for them is larger then we believe it to be.

Checked Provident again today for copper bars. The demand for these things seems to be insatiable at this point. Only some of the 2013 1/2 pound bars and rounds are left.

There must be something magical at work here.....

Wouldn't surprise me one bit if it is people stocking up in anticipation of the physical copper etf's coming to market. The first one has been ok'ed by the SEC, but is currently being stalled by a challenge from Encore Wire Corp. and Southwire Co. "The companies have said that the JPM XF Physical Copper Trust, the first U.S. exchange-traded fund backed by physical metal, would leave less for manufacturers, creating shortages and boosting prices." There is a second one that is even larger that is trying to get SEC approval as well.

The etf's will decrease current supplies, which will in turn increase prices. The more demand (supply coming out of the market) there is before the etf's come to market, if they do eventually come to market will make the prices rise even further when they come to market.
