Have you ever lost money to a coin counter -------

Postby henrysmedford » Tue Feb 05, 2013 8:54 am

Looks like it happens to the banks/CU too. As you my know my son Franklin has talked his way into getting the "junk" from coin counters from banks/CU and have a long thread of his finds here http://www.realcent.org/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=8274. Yesterday we stopped by a CU and they said the had just sorted out a $2000 bag of dollar coin and found that the coin counter had counted all kind of stuff as dollar coins. They said their loss was are gain. We got paid to haul it off as we got $10 in Canadian coin.
Also were nine more tokens from a strip club that I did not scan. I am glad Franklin had not looked at them closely. It would have been along story of what was on the strip club tokens.

WOW, How close are the tokens to the real dollar coin in size? Couple weeks back my CU was changing the half dollar bag and we notice all these gold toned coin in the bag....thinking the dollar coins were misbagged....wrong the gold toned coin were TEXAS lottery tokens that just happen to be the same diameter but a tad bit thinner than the real half dollar. Misuse the machines are we will lose them....boo on those abusers.

The bank needs to check their magnet and clean their sensor.

That is the reason why the banks around here charge for non-customers!

Nice scores there....if you can track down where the vacuum tokens belong to, there won't be a spec of dirt left in your cars!

I once had a half dollar dump in a bank coin counter that I lost $37 on. I have never been back to that one.

Might be getting to return to San Diego in a couple of months!! I went a few years to grade school there. Then after we moved to Oklahoma, I got to pack rat back and forth every summer cause my dad was a teacher in Okla, and would go to San Diego every summer to work in an airplane factory during his time off.... loved San Diego and Los A... esp disneyland... ha
