Hi! New User here, buying a Ryedale and looking for advice!

I have been emailing Andy Redlon, the Ryedale guy, and I will be ordering one soon and calling it my Bday present!

So I have a few questions:

What supplies should I buy along with it? Like oil, extra wheel, things like that?

Anything I should know about these machines before I take the plunge?

Thanks for any help!

It feels good to come out of the lurking shadows and say HI!

A little background info on me:

I hand sort all denominations, love the silver, anything odd, love Eisenhower dollars, I sell some of my excess on ebay, through CCF forums etc. Really enjoy the hobby. It's a great break from school work.

BUT

Looking for varieties in zinc cents has never produced for me, and I'm tired of looking at zincolns. I plan on using a zinc target coin to sort them all into one bin, then skimming the the "reject" pile (the not-targeted pile) for wheats, foreigns, etc, then stashing the copper. I may sell some copper to pay some of the machine back, but maybe I won't....

Ah, Thanks! I was looking for such a board. How does one even get there aside from the link you gave?

It might be that the members forum is invisible to you if you have less than 10 posts. I know you need 10 posts to post there; maybe the same applies to finding it?

Four more posts and you learn the secret handshake to look at those posts.

Welcome to the group. Just click quote and add one smiley and you are down to three.

haha, I thought most forums didn't like people spamming to get post based privileges?

Most don't like necroposting either, but no one seems to care here. Honestly I don't really know why the rule exists, it seems like just a nuisance.

We don't and we hit spammers with a copper rod!

I'm surprised that a member, even with zero posts, can't see the members only forums. I though you just had to be logged in.

I thought any member can post anywhere - we only restrict posting (by saying it) in the market until min 10 posts to allow people to establish themselves as non-spammer actual forum member before they start selling stuff. We are a discuss\ion forum with a market, not a market with a forum.

We set up some forums as members only to give some perks to our members and kept the casual web surfer from seeing some of the more useful info on machines, member only discussion etc.

Yeah, sometimes you just have to jump in the deep end! Gotta hoard while the penny is still around! Obama addressed the penny publicly as I'm sure you all saw the youtube vid. Maybe someday I'll look back and wish I started sooner?

Anyway, I couldn't pass up getting a ryedal because my wife didn't even PRETEND to object, sooo, I just hope it's not to loud to use here on campus. Worst case I have to use it on the weekend, which is when I'll have time anyway.
