It's really #2-51. Or 50 maybe, but I doubt it.

CONFUSED!!

Looking at the listings on feebay and on coincanada.com, I see listings for magnetic and non-magnetic.
The RCM shows only 1 steel core variety. Steel is obviously magnetic.

Why is there a non-magnetic variety and where did they come from?

I think the 2000-2012 pennies were always officially all steel, even though a lot of them were really zinc.

I'm glad to hear they made non-magnetic ones... maybe I'll be able to find some 2012s after all.

I mostly find the non-magnetic varieties...but that's probably due to magnets catching the steelies in the US.

Well, I am going to hang on to the 20 rolls of unopened BU that my wife brought back from Canada. i also have a bag of loose ones that would be classed as AU.

scyther..... are you just looking for some to fill a collection? If so, send me a PM.

$6,600 is a BARGAIN for these.

They are totally unique. Very few INTENTIONALLY issued unique coins out there.

The buyer could probably flip these in the 10k or higher range tomorrow if it is a dealer of Canadian cents.

I've been sorting some of the better shape more recent pennies into plastic rollers
saving them from the "spend bucket" since this is pretty much my last chance to
fill out a collection from circulation.

So far I've found:

2001: Zn only (This was supposed to be the first year of steel core pennies.)
2002: Fe and Zn
2003: Fe and Zn
2004: Zn only
2005: Zn only
2006: Fe and Zn
2007: Fe only
2008: Fe only
2009: Fe and Zn
2010: Zn only
2011: Fe and Zn
2012: Fe and Zn

Zn=Zinc core
Fe=Steel (Iron) core

It's possible those special collector roles the mint sold at $10 each were all
done in steel only.

BTW, does anyone know if the varieties I'm missing exist/don't exist/are
simply vey rare?

Has anyone here found Fe 2001, 2004, 2005, 2010 or Zn 2007,2008?
