UPDATE Worst sort in the five year of sorting!

Last week my son want to go by all the Umpqua Banks to pick up shotgun Loomis rolls. I wanted to go by Chase and get CWR but Franklin said Umpqua has all the cute tellers and we had not been at some of the Umpqua banks in a year. Six branches later we had $150 FV and today after sorting less than $4 in copper. Looks like Loomis in Oregon is getting all the copper.
PS most of the zinc were dirty. I could see this happen if it was full of new cents.

True but six banks in three cites that got there coin at different times all boxes short on copper, I could see this if all six boxes came from the same place. I know if my dumps all get rolled at the same time someone is going to get all zincs.

I have had worse sorts. There was a time a few yours back when they first fired up the Super Sorter that several of us in many areas of the country were getting solid zinc boxes of older zincs.

I picked up an 8 box order at one bank.. then picked up a 24 box order at a different bank 50 miles away. All were circulated zinc.

On the plus side.. it was the fastest sorting I ever did. Just take a box off the pile and put it on the scale. Then put it in the outgoing stack. Didn't even have to break the seals on the boxes.

Sounds to me like copper to zinc ratios could have been zip and you still won :)

Yesterday I talked a couple branches out of a total of $65 - 2 boxes and some loose bank rolls.

Later when I sat down with a cold beverage and opened one of the sealed boxes... wah wah waaaaaah! All the rolls were new 2012s with a just a few circulated coins sprinkled in.

Then I cut open the first of the Loomis rolls and... wah wah waaaaaaah! It only had 31 pennies total. I guess because some were standing up in the sleve when it was sealed.

I was ready for disappointing results for the rest but instead the copper gods smiled upon me with 53 wheats in the remaining lot so still a good night.

I've found a few wild hogs in these parts too.
It's best to take them out of circulation ASAP.

Funny thing is that 'Pig Pennies' are worth exactly 1 Cent US, The Bermuda Dollar is pegged $1=$1 USA Dollar. So in terms of face your breaking even.

But those guys look like their copper, I think Bermuda and other dollar pegged currencies such as Panama Balboa follow suit when changing coin compositions as the US mint, so their likely zinc if not steel now.

Yup thats pretty much the idea- US Dollar pegged currencies tend to follow compositions of the US mint. Such as changing copper to zinc close to 1982, etc.

But countries pegged to the US Dollar still in the end have control of their coinage and may wanna change their compositions faster, hence Panama contracting their coins to RCM for steel plated cents.

And some pegged currencies do not follow the US Mint at all- Like the Bahamas for example where they had larger Cents made out of different metal, square 15 cent coins, 999 Nickel coins, etc during different points of history. Bahama Dollar $1= USD $1

It should be noted the US MINT does not make any coins for these countries, except Panama in some years and denominations

The last $50 I got of Loomis rolls there was very little copper in them but the zincs that were there were not new either. I suspect Loomis is pulling copper (at least in Oregon).
