When to the bank and got my order for the week. I get bags from the counter. When I got home I saw dimes in a penny bag. So today I got the dimes out. I found one quarter, 283 dimes with one of them being silver. That why I don't take dime and pennies back in the same dump. This is the best I have done.

Wow, that did cost somebody quite a bit more than coinstar would have. Could someone with with more knowledge than me about how comparitors work (and by that i mean basically anyone who knows anything about them) explain why it is so common for dimes to be counted as pennies?

Maybe... if you're fortunate... and go back to the bank and patiently explain what happened... they can restore them to the proper owner?

when i take my zincs back to the coin counter at my local bank, a couple pennies always get counted as a dime. I would say 2 pennies for every 50 dollars. Probably within spec, but still fun to see a couple dimes listed on the receipt when I know for a fact my dump bag was all pennies.
