coin counters

alright so i am sure that the big hoarders here have coin counters/baggers and i am wondering what ones seem to work the best. i know everyone has an opinion but i am trying to see what one to look into and what ones to stay away from. - thanks

I think it depends on the amount you plan to go through.
Then finding the most the machine that will do that the cheapest and most accurately.

Big timers like the Ryedale it seems, small timers may not want to cough up half a grand and go for something less expensive.

Im small right now, if I do go big Ill probably try to get the Ryedale.

Im sure others will share their opinions too.

Look for a used Semacon S-120

It all depends on how much you are looking at spending. You can get a CS-10 for a couple hundred dollars or you an spend several thousand. Just PM me or post here what you are looking at and everyone can put in their imput. I have quite a bit of experience with the more expensive ones.

The scan coin is good if all you want to do is count. I have a 303 & 313. Both are in the 2500 cpm range. The cs95 I had was good for about 1000-1200 cpm.

The great thing about these counters is that they hold their value pretty well. You could use it for a year and get almost all (if not all ) of your money back when you sell it.

Do your research, its better to spend a few extra bucks and get a good quality machine instead of a piece of junk.

Here is the one that I bought (from this seller). A great machine- it really spits 'em out. And very accurate. Hardly ever jams (only if there is a nick on the edge of the coin). If it does jam, very easy to clear. Also has a separate attachment for shot gun wrappers- it really hums then! For $500 , well worth it to me.

Ok, i submitted an offer on the Slickeast model. Definitely has some credibility if a guy with 3 Ryedales using it. Not actively in the market for one, but at the right price it would be great to have. Will see if I have any luck

It is also good to count out $ 100 coppers. This is about 68 lbs. The perfect fit for the medium flat rate box.

After going through 119 rolls last night by hand on a cheap scanner, I will be upgrading to something better when I get the chance.

Ill make this cheap one buy the better one.

OK, I did a video on my Motorola Droid X with both.

The Scan Coin 313 ran 2202 coppers in 1 min. I need some sort of disc to get the phone and computer to communicate. I'll work on that.

The Scan Coin 303 ran 2050. The top speed I believe is when you are running dimes.

It claims 2300 cpm, but I never saw even 1500. I used it for a year. I saw the Scan Coin 313 and got it CHEAP. Less than $200. I stole it pretty much. After using it I sold the CS-95 to another member. It is a good machine, but I needed faster. I bought the 303 to run beside it because at times I have $800 + in loose that I get from the lobby machines and want to pre-run to get the junk out before they see the Ryedale's

Alright slick what are the tricks on this thing? I already think i did a no no. I tried to put in mixed denomination to see if it would sort out smallest to largest but I dont think it can work this way. Also read a little and you need to lift that one lever when you get a stuck coin. Slick, does yours tip over on a 50$ bag of pennies? I was thinking about putting a bag support underneath.

Either way Im excited to be able to check my counts against the bags as well as incoming/outgoing copper !

Good question. Mine may have came with one, but I return loose. I'll look around and see what mine came with.

I too have a Scan Coin 303. I can't complain about it in any way. Easy to operate as well as easy to clear jams.

I have complete sets of coin tubes I guess. One for every denomination, and some other gadgets and do-dads. I have no idea what they do, or how to use them as I've never used them, hehe. I use mine to count up the coppers only as I return loose and uncounted.

bgretz, Im assuming we got the same one with same attachment. You take a canvas bag and lift the slip ring up , slide the bag tightly over the tube and drop the slip ring. This lets them just drop into a bag. I counted some coins I bought from someone here and it was pretty spot on. I am very happy with the speed when I can get the coins to keep moving through it
