Hi everyone, I have been reading this forum for quite sometime, and I figured since it was starting all new and fresh that it would be a good time to join. I have been collecting the .999 nickels mostly, but I do pick up boxes of pennies as well. Like most of you on here, in addition to the metal mining I am also looking for the rare key dates, errors, etc. I told a friend of mine I work with that a 2006 no mint mark magnetic penny was worth a few bucks. The next day I get a phone call from him saying that he had found one in his change dish in BU condition ! So I pick him up for work later that day, check his find with the magnet in my car, sure enough its good. On the way to work we stopped in at the local(but a very big dealer) coin shop to see what he would offer him.The younger guy working there told him that the coin was "circulated" so he offered him $25 cdn, and my friend took it. I would say the coin would grade MS 60 or higher( but I'm no expert) and that he should have been offered $100 at minimum. So I was wondering how many of you have ever found one of these, or know the mintage of this coin. Thanks

You have to love Canada six Varieties for 2006. The one that is worth a lot is the 2006 P - Non magnetic . The P is for Plated steal and somehow some zinc got the P mark. Also 2006 magnetic is worth $80+ See http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins-prices.php?coin=1-cent-2006&years=1-cent-1965-2012 So there is not a hole in a coin album for that one here is my sons album http://www.realcent.org/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1639&start=25.Wecome to the group.
