When do you think it will happen?
Is anyone waiting for this mark to start sorting more, or to start selling?
Will 3x change anything for you?

It's already happened---with pre-80 Canadians that is. :D

Copper cents are close to 4.5x the metal value of zinc cents.

When Silver was at or below $5.00 an ounce just a decade ago, the value of a silver dime for instance, was just .36 cents. I believe mass hoarding will begin when the copper pennies are consistently valued between three and four cents a piece. I must admit that I dropped off the copper radar when the price went below two cents a few months ago, but at this rate I will probably want to get a Ryedale and go to town!

What does copper have to get to to get us to 3 cents?

Anyone done the math yet? 4.50ish?

It's not what copper will do but what Bernanke will do. Give him three to six more months with the printing presses.

I did the math a few days ago... let me see if I can remember. I think I found that $4.60 copper = .03 pennies.

Let me double check that...

$4.61

Here's the math to double check:

Copper Spot * copper cent weight * gram-pound factor * purity = .03

n * 3.11 g * .0022 * .95 = .03

.0065n = .03

n = 4.61

Getting awfully close!
