Does anyone save cents that have irregular surfaces and other inferiorities? I've found a bunch that have different such properties, like "bubbly" surface in spots, or an "orange-peel" texture. Just wondering whether this is caused by irregualities in the dies or planchets, and whether there is a market (errors?) for this type of coin. Thanks!

There is no such thing as "inferior" when it comes to 95% copper cents.

I used to pull oddities when I hand-sorted, but now as a Ryedaler, I don't take the time to bother with it. Always interesting stuff, though.

I also have wondered why some of the zinc have the bubbly or orange peel effect. Some are so bad it's hard to read them. I was setting them aside but there were so many I just sent them back to the wild. I'm not sure if I should of kept them.

The bubbly zincs I'm pretty sure are just damaged coins. I've seen quite a few of them from sorting, I think it's oxidation or some kind of chemical reaction that causes it, not a mint error.

No the ones I'm talking about are like they just came from the mint. I was talking to someone that said at the mint when they are struck sometimes the metal gets so hot that it causes it to happen.

Ditto, I was talking about the shiny new ones that have an orange-peel texture. The heat thing makes sense.
