Just because a teller works in a bank does not mean.....

that they know the value of money.

All of my Wells Fargo CWR sources in town know I'm a "collector". Not too long ago one of the gals said,

"I have this really weird coin in my drawer that I don't know what to do with. Maybe you would like it?"

"Lemme see!!!" ( Dear God, I was thinking, let it be a Kugerrand!)

She pulled out a 1926 silver dollar. Me, being stupid, assumed she knew it was worth more than a dollar and I asked how much she wanted for it. She then looked at me like I WAS really stupid and said, "Well, it says One Dollar on it. That's what I gave the guy who brought it in."

"I'll give you a dollar for it. Anytime you have any more of this junk show up just gimme a call and I'll come take it off your hands." Left her my cell number and scurried away with my booty.

Thanks, I was on the forum a year ago but I let my account lapse. Just got it back!

Hoarding pennies and nickels. Scrapping my brains out and buying silver.

yep welcome back CrazyTom...Friday before heading out of town I stopped by my CU to get some cash...as always "do you have any big dollars or half dollars?" I asked...."yes I do" said the teller, I could hear the ringing when she scooped them out of her drawer...thinking they were 40% but...4 Franks stood out amonst the 16 clads, I quickly handed her the ten and deposited my bounty in my pocket. SHe then proceeded to tell my the same guy had cashed in 6 Ikes(got those), and two she had never seen before....she took them home to research them...I asked what the dates were "1922" dang the luck now that would have been a super score....CrazyTom I think we can all agree that some know but most do not know the value of REAL money.
