http://news.coinupdate.com/final-lincol ... ages-0119/

Notice the 2009 P Presidency is the lowest mintage Lincoln Memorial since they began in 1959.
The next closest is the 1968 s at 261m.

http://www.bestcoin.com/lincoln-cent-mintage-two.htm

Although not technically "rare" by most logical standards, in comparison to previous years they are.
More importantly they will sell for triple face on feebay.
(although I wouldnt list them as "rare", seems unethical to me)

Most of you knew this, this is for those who didnt.

I will save any gem BU's I come across while sorting.
Otherwise they will go to the zinc pile.

Same with the 2009 nickels at about 40m minted selling for $6-14 per BU roll.
(One circ roll even went for $14)

Nickel rolls sold for up to $40 in the past Ive read.

Dimes were also minted at greatly smaller numbers in 2009.

Here is the 2009 pres penny:

I save ALL 2009 cents- just because of the comparatively lower mintage.

I will pull out any that are in good shape too.

Has anyone scored a 2009 box at the bank?

A new penny box was my worst fear, now I obviously would like a 2009 please. lol

yep over ten boxes of them none presidential though....traded them off for solid Cu boxes or FRN's. However I did get a solid 2008 pennie box about three months back....kept it but don't know why.

Out of 40 - 50 boxes Ive yet to get a new Zinc box.

I do remember seeing at least a few of these with the white house on the back as I sorted for copper.

PS: At least 3 known "errors" from the 2009 cent:

FORMATIVE YEARS 6TH FINGER

FORMATIVE YEARS DOUBLED THUMB

FORMATIVE YEARS CHIN WHISKERS

Also a DDR on the back of the cabin, seems the most valuable on ebay:

there has been alot of chatter on this matter in the past two years. i personally think in 10 years the examples you have shown from feebay will be atleast double if not more. i will wait till then to see what happens

Good luck!

Many people like to buy BU rolls to look for errors. Myself included.

It would be most helpful if PCGS or one of the big graders recognized one of the errors
to add interest in addition to the lower mintage.

(a six fingered Lincoln sold for $22)

I've got a box of presidency ones, but they're in the clear wrappers that Brinks uses. Kind of a fluke, really--I live in a town of about 700 with one and only one bank. I had just got $100 from them when I first started sorting, and then I went back for another box and that's what they gave me. Nice as it is to have got that, I leave them alone at the bank now, and instead get my coins at a larger branch an hour away.

Country, could you interpret what your link means?
thanks

Here are my 2009 cent totals from sorting last night:

28 - other than the white house coin.

Only 3 white house (presidency) pennies, all Denver.

(no errors)

There were probably 50 or more shield, not kept.
(20ish % copper, 4 wheats to the 1940s, 1 Canadian)

What numbers are others finding in circulation for the 2009? Anyone?

LP4 P's are the only 2009 cents really worth any money.

The 2009 cents are not Lincoln Memorial Cents, since they do not show the Lincoln Memorial. The Lincoln Memorial cents only ran from 1959-2008.

Finder wrote:Only 3 white house (presidency) pennies, all Denver.

The LP4 cent depicts the US Capitol, not the White House.

Thanks for the corrections.

Lowest Ive seen for the LP$ P boxes on Ebay is $191.

I want one, but not that bad.

Rex said he got a box of them from Brinks, but I've ordered 100's of boxes without a single uncirc box.
Is that normal? What other companies have uncirc boxes or is it just luck?

I guess Im going to have to buy some rolls of the lp4 2009 P off ebay.

After sorting 5200 coins Ive found only 3 coins, all Denvers. I'm getting a miniscule return of about one 19th of 1% (.00057%). I get a higher wheat return that that!

Not a single P in 5200 coins.

Meawhile I got over a roll of the other 2009's combined.

Now im convinced the 2009's especially the P's are in fact signifcantly rare, at least on the street.

Maybe not so much the mintage totals as coins in circulation.
People must really be hoarding them, but no one I know outside of us has a clue they are anything speshal.

I went ahead and bought half a dozen 2009 lp4 rolls.
They should at least hold their $4-$5 a roll price with 129m made imo.

What numbers of the 2009 are you (whoever reads this) finding as you sort?
Provided you are looking for them.

I'm wondering if they are as rare in circulation in your neck of the woods.
