How do you go about it? With a magnified light? Kitchen table? Computer desk? Laying on the couch with an eye Loop?

Kitchen table with a magnified OTT light. Containers for copper, Canadian, 82's and wheats. I dump my loose cents in box and away I go. Regular breaks are important for the eyes and neck/back.

On an old throw rug in front of the fireplace. I line up the copper pennies in stacks of five and roll them up when there is enough. I toss what I don't want in a bucket for dumping at the bank. I keep a cheap magnifying glass around just in case. Its a great thing to do while watching sports.

You might consider wearing some kind of back brace. I've had many times when my back was in pain after looking at a single box of coins.

Thanks for all the replies. Also, my eyes and back are wearing out and was wondering how everyone was doing it to help them out a little bit. I am curious how long it takes the coin counter at the bank to count say $100FV. I would hate to get there and tie the machine up for several hours.

Depends on the counter. Newer high-speed counters can count almost as fast as you can dump them in. (Though jams can slow this down if you have junky coins.) If the counter you're using feeds into bags, you'll be slowed down mostly be the need to have the tellers change out bags. The counter mostly used in these parts feeds two $50 bags and you need teller intervention at that point or before (depending on how much was in them at the start).

Older counters can be quite a bit slower, but some of those feed into a large tub and (barring a jam) don't need as much teller intervention.

Look for a bank or credit union that has one of these. These machines can count about as fast as you can feed it
