Wanted to see how fast I could crack open 50 rolls and and sort them. Did it in 36 minutes which I thought was pretty impressive. Actually did it on a floor and bet if I would've done it on a table, I may have shaved an extra min or so off. took about 5 mins to crack open the rolls. so just under 2 rolls a min
my stats:
487 coppers
11 wheats including a 1917 and a steelie
34 copper canadians
1 smiley face penny
1 zinker with no face on it but a perfect strike on the back. must be worth something. can barely recognize the front being a penny.
1 zinker struck in grease I think.

21.25% Not a very good % to me. i usually get closer to over 30% with CWR's

36 minutes is FAST for hand sorting! You must have pretty sharp eyes!

Man, my back hurts just thinking about you bending over and working on a floor. I can't imagine handsorting that fast. Was alcohol involved?

No way I could compete with that - an hour would be an impressive time for me. With breaks and distractions, two hours is more typical. Sad, I know.

You say it took 5 minutes to open the rolls...do you mean you opened them all, then started sorting?

Had to crack them all open then sorted them all! I'm going to do it again soon because I wanna get it under 30 minutes! No alcohol was involved lol

How about afterwards? Maybe a celebration drink? How's the percentages up your way still giving up steady 30% ?

Wow, those are some "big league"stats. You found 34 cu Canadians and I'm lucky if I find 2 or 3 in 50 CWR rolls

probably am going to try for 30 mins this week. Can't imaging actually posting a 30 min video online of sorting pennies and besides someone could easily beat it by just not really looking at all the dates. not like there would be a judge there

Wow!!! Amazing!!! It takes me one hour to open and sort and then reroll 200 coins. So four rolls of pennies searched in one hour for me.

I think I remember awhile back seeing on You Tube a video of a member on here sorting through pennies.

If I spent 30 minutes on the floor, I probably wouldn't be getting up for another 30 minutes.

Perhaps I should take some pointers from you, mistroman. Fairly new to sorting, only 20 or so boxes so far, but average about 2 hours per box.

Best I could do back in the old Pre-Ryedale days was 1 hour per box. That was using a digital scale.

Misty.. you never clearly said you hand sorted these.. only that you opened them by hand. Did you sort them by hand also, or did you open them by hand and then drop them through a Ryedale. In other words, was there any machine assistance involved in this record?

I was inspired by your post and figured I'd give it a shot. At first I though I would be able to do it because I thought I was fairly fast. I sat down and started the timer, no distractions just quick sorting. Took 6 mins and 22 seconds to break the rolls. My final time was 1 hour 7 mins and 53 seconds. This was non stop sorting as fast as I could. I did it on a large table, dumped ~600-800 out at a time and flipped all of them overface up. Then i started flicking them around to their respective piles. I dont know where im going wrong, the flipping face up seems to take the most time. I can see the dates fine and that part goes really fast. Any thoughts?
