Is it a matter of AZ being closer toDenver or ????

I went back through the1982 that I just labeled CU.

Yes

It stands to reason - and has been observed - that P coins are more plentiful in the east, and D coins more so in the west.

I wonder if Denver was still minting copper and Philly switched earlier?

Next observation. P I have now 8 rolls of , large date. Only 24 small date.
