For all those that pull out the wheats, are you doing with them? Do you hoard them? Do you sell them? If you tell what kind prices are usual?

Per coin and/or per roll (50s, 40s,30s, 20s, teens)?

I just hoard my wheat cents. I've looked into selling them, but I've found that circulated common date wheats only go for about 10 cents or less per coin.

hoard them. i keep them grouped by decade (teens, 1920s, 1930s, etc)

Right now they all go into a big jar and will likely sit there for a while until all the wheats and most other coppers have been pulled from circulation, I'm sure they will sell for a premium someday...(just like if you had rolls of indian heads now)

I'm doing the same with the 2009 penny series and the "S mint" coppers I find, I put them aside for later, they might not be worth much now, but they will be once copper has been depleated from circulation.

i too save mine and roll by decade.theres' always a market for them.people seem to want rolls when trying to fill their coin albums.

I tube all of Franklin's finds by date and mint mark and after fifty into paper roll. After two years of doing this we have yet to fill a tube of pre 1940. I think that 1919 or 1937 will win that race as each are half way there.

Toss them in a tub and forget about them. Way too much effort to sort them by date, decade, or anything else.

I make 2 piles, 1909-33 and 1934-58. I will sell them when I get enough to make it worth
wile to ship.

40's & 50's P/D in one jar, trading stock when it grows to $10 or so face.

09 thru 39 saved & kept long term.

All San Fran wheats in another bag. Maybe sell/trade someday.

sort everything into date/mint mark. to get a 'set' of rolls.

with the 20 lowest mintages going into 'flips'.

I sell them as soon as I have enough to sweeten a cu bullion penny lot I want to sell. Pre-40's I keep longer for the enjoyment of looking at them but they too will go.

I'll keep them until i have a large enough batch to sell for a worthwhile profit
probably sell them in a lot cause i dont really want to spend the time to find the worth of each wheat

Anything after 1933 get thrown in a canvas bag. Everything else I sell as collectible coins.

Mark down on my spreadsheet by year and mint mark, then into a mason jar it goes.

Alright, somebody school me on wheat years. To me 1909-1958 are all the same. What's the difference, besides age? (excluding the steel ones)

It's all about the mintage. The fewer there are, the more they are worth.

I hoard them of course! Actually, I have been known to buy and sell small hoards of these. Did a deal to add 30,000 more of em to the hoard yesterday. Much faster than trying to pluck them out of the copper sort. I don't have time to sort the copper for wheats.. so I just leave them in there. Most buyers prefer it that way anyway. I figure some time years from now I can sort the wheats out of my copper hoard.. but right now I prefer to focus on copper capture. It is cheaper and easier to just buy bags of wheats.

I keep them all in a gallon cider glass jug (sans cider). Anything damaged or less than good condition gets tossed into the general copper bucket for hoarding or future sale.

I agree with the others that if I even need a complete bag o' wheats, it's certainly easier to buy one. Instant wheat cent gratification. Given my low ratio of wheat finds (5-7 per box), that's a time commitment I can't do.

I'm saving them separated per decade (10's,20's,30's ect.) I don't know what I will do with them, but I just like saving them for now. Such a nice feeling to have $25+ worth of wheats. They are just so cool looking and they stick out like a sore thumb, plus you can't beat buying them at FV. So far my best is a 1911-d, but I'm sure soon I'll find my 1931-s, 1922 no d and of course 1909-s VDB. Keep on sorting folks.

I used to separate by year and mint. Got a nice collection. I don't want to spend the time to do that right now, so off into a bag they go for future sorting.
