How many is a million, more or less...

As I schlepped my 17th bucket to the batcave this evening I realized that penny sorting has once and for all convinced me that a million of anything is huge. Before this, the word "million" had only been a slang exaggeration...we all use it, - well, a million times a week, right? Somebody hit the lotto last week, and I recall saying it was only 1.2 million...not a big jackpot.

Now that I've sorted and hand counted over 130,000 coins in little stacks of 25 cents each, a real million seems unfathomable.

You pretty much have to sort a million pennies to get 1 ton of copper.

My goal is a ton, but I'm more than halfway there, and will be there in 4 months or so. Next goal might have to be 1,000,000 pennies.

You really want to blow your mind, try to imagine a trillion. That's a million million. Or a thousand thousand million. Or a thousand billion. Heck, even a billion is mind-boggling. A thousand million. Crazy stuff.

One million pennies. I've always liked this site.

Now multiply all those pennies by 20. Then substitute a dollar for each penny and that's how much some actors/actresses make for making one garbage movie. :o

Tom Hanks made a cool $40 mil for Angels and Demons. Highest paid role for any actor or actress ever.

Sorry, I didn't factor in for wage inflation over the past few years. Instead multiply by 40 and then substitute a dollar bill for every penny. That's how much Hanks was paid for acting in yet another Hollywood piece of garbage. :o

The Megapenny website is a real kick.

It's worth a few minutes to peruse.

/1 tenth of the way to a million myself!
