I'm listening to Peter Schiff's radio show, and someone just called with a "business idea" in which you take one or more Ryedale sorters, buy $25 boxes of pennies from the bank, sort out the copper, and sell it on eBay. He claimed you could make about $30/hour sorting (before or after ebay fees and shipping?). Did someone here happen to make this call? And can anyone verify how much you can actually make selling these on ebay, versus how much time is put into sorting them?

Nobody here sounds that dumb.

Peter is on the wagon for the pre 82's...it was someone named Ross from Texas. But he said they were worth 3.7 cents each(what?) maybe he meant 2.7, anyway Peter said dont sell them...keep them...but where do you store them...? But "Ryedale" was mention on the show.

Peter actually wrote about saving pre-82 pennies in his book "Crash Proof: how to profit from the coming economic collapse" (2007).

You should be able to stream a loop of today's show either now or later today. It ran from 10-12am Eastern, and usually takes a couple hours to appear in the loop. Click on the button that says "Listen now to a continuous loop of the latest episode." It was about 3/4 of the way through the 2-hour show, so you may have to sit through a lot of listening to hear the Ryedale reference.

Sounds like somebody that doesn't actually sort and sell.

He meant you have to sell the coppers at 3.7x to cover all the ebay fees.

yep, Andy is Andy Redlon of Ryedale Coin....yesterday on the show, Peter did state it might be a "good business idea if you were unemployed". They did not actually crunch numbers it was more of the caller stating what we all would like to do....get 3.7 cents each...
