Call me crazy but....

Postby reddirtcoins » Thu May 26, 2011 6:53 pm

I had to make room for sorting so I moved the 57Chevy to grandma's house.

Baaahahahahaha!

My Dad bought a brand new '57 when I was 6. A real stripper. The model designation was 210, not Biscayne or any fancy name just 210, this was transportation period. Two door,no fancy extra chrome, no radio (it would have been a tube type AM only device), metal dash, six cylinder engine, three on the tree manual tranny, vacuum operated windshield wipers (no electric motor), no rug on the floor just linoleum. A tremendous car we took many vacations all over the country in it besides the fact that it was the family workhouse/packmule. When Dad traded it in '67 for a Malabu Wagon with a 250 six (another classic very few built) it didn't last 6 hours on the dealers lot. Somebody got a hell of a deal. A lot of the traditional '57 body rot had been patched and Dad did a valve job and an engine flush before he traded it.

I think it's a mistake....you could have just pulled the car up a little and run the Ryedale so that the copper falls into the trunk. I bet it would hold $1k face.

I guess we get different batches down here in Texas. By far Chevys out last Fords down here in the dust bowl of West Texas. Ive had many friends go Ford then come right back to Chevy after having so many problems with trannies and the electrical systems on the Fords. Doesnt seem to hold up as well in the dirt down here. Most who drive Fords that then come back to Chevy say that the Fords are to tight and feel like driving a box. In my opinion they are all about the same. Its kinda like gold vs silver. Some will do with nothing but gold and yet others wouldnt trade an oz of their silver for gold, yet there are those that do both.
