Oldest Cent YOU own

Postby slickeast » Thu Jun 02, 2011 6:25 pm

I was looking/ admiring some of the older cents on the internet. The 1793 Chain and Wreath, and Flying Eagles. I do own a few Flying Eagles and I like the look of them.

What is the oldest cent you own and can you post a pic?

The oldest coin I own is a 1832 Nova Scotia Half Penny with a hole in it. Pretty cool coin except for the hole! Oldest US coin is a 1857 Flying Eagle.
Cool find Digging4copper. Do you have a pic?

Aww, shucks. After hearing about the Fugio & coins from the 1700's I have "penny envy".

My oldest and most cherished coin is a 1798 large cent made from a broken die. It has two cracks going across the face.

The oldest US cent I have is an 1837 Feuchtwanger Cent in about VF condition.

As far as "regular" US mint pennies, I have an 1857 and an 1858 Flying Eagle, both AG - G conditions.

The oldest cent I own is an 1801 large cent that I found in a bag of half dollars last year. The coin is very worn and the only part of the date visable are the very tops of the numbers. It also has some fresh nics from bouncing around in the bag of half dollars. This has been my best find so far in searching rolls and bags of coins.

Your 1890 Canadian penny is worth more the 1 cent, what condition is it in?

1883 Indian

Oldest one found would be a 1903 Indian

1817 Large Cent, I think. I might have a British penny that is older, but that is not a "cent".
