newbie from Georgia

Postby thaler » Mon Jun 06, 2011 1:29 am

Hello everyone, newbie here from GA. I've been collecting silver coins for years, and now i've decided to try the pre-82 copper cent hoarding gig. I can see already that it can be more "addictive" than I thought..lol :)

welcome aboard! Are you hand sorting? It is so addictive it has become my second job (the same with a lot of the others).

Welcome to the board. Copper rocks and can be had for pennies. Happy hunting.

I am hand sorting as well. What percentage of coppers have you been finding. Here in Milledgeville it runs between 10% to 14%. The highest I ever obtained was 17.8%. The copper % tends to be lower in GA relative to other regions of the country.

Wow, that is encouraging. I had been hand sorting and pulling 10 - 14%, but my recent batch was 17.8% (which I thought was a fluke). I'm thinking of buying a Ryedale. It is good to hear of higher percentages in GA. Ed in WI is pulling 30% or more copper.

Same here Beamer. The very first batch I sorted was a $25 dollar bag of CWR, it was 19% The string boxes that i've been getting are about 16-17%. When I do manage to get $10.00 worth of CWR here and there, it's usually about 18%.

Wow, pretty consistent Cu % in GA. I guess GA is just not a good area for getting high yeilds on Cu. My Ryedale is on the way. With it being so hot, I guess I will be inside firing up the Ryedale working double time to acquire Cu. The guys up North are quite lucky to be pulling 20 - 30%.

I was just flippantly adding to PreservingThePast's epic rhyme.

Hello everyone this is my first post here at realcent. I am from a small town called Aragon, Ga

I have been buying/selling/collecting pm's for the past 2 years

Im a silver bug at heart and just recently got into the copper penny idea. I already have a ryedale and I guess you can say im hooked already after my first batch was ran thru yesterday.

You can find me on bullion stacker that is were i buy sale and trade most of my items at. I go by the same name over there as i do here.So if we strike a deal here you can check my 200+ feedbacks over there for reference.

Thanks and im looking forward to the knowledge i will learn here at real cent.
