Innovative Cleaning of Ugly Abes

OK, here goes....I'm sure to be harassed over this but it works for me.

I wear penny loafers everyday (with socks) and several times during the day, I just drop my ugly Abes into my shoes that I'm wearing and let my feet do the cleaning. I guess the heat and moisture that builds up in my shoes really does the trick. I always wear socks so I've never tried it without socks. I discovered this one day in that I found a wheatie and didn't have a shirt pocket and my pants pockets were full of other coins. So I just dropped it in my shoe and when I got home, I was amazed at how shiny and clean it appeared. Doesn't work on every penny but sure does a number on at least 75%....plus I don't have to rub, scrub or soak in vinegar. I have to laugh because sometimes when I have several in a shoe, they clang when I walk. You may want to try if you just have a couple, trust me...more than a half a dozen or so and it can become a little uncomfortable. Thought you guys might get a laugh out of this....I sure do. Wife says "You're an idiot!"

Verdigris is poison. I'd not.

That is why a penny in the hand is worth 2 in the shoe.

Not to mention the measureable traces of cocaine, unrine, and god knows what....

If I have any trouble reading the date I just throw them out with the zincs...not worth a cent or three to clean it.

Wheathead Saver, you crack me up. Your wife is wrong. You're not an idiot...just crazy. But I can't wait to try your idea...with a little shoe powder.

Ha, That's pretty awesome. While I applaud your creativity, I'm pretty sure that it would drive me absolutely nuts to have even one penny in my shoe!

I was just unlucky enough to pick up $5 of CWRs that were out and out gross. Coated with something sticky, organic maybe? Like corn, maple, cane, syrup? Chemical, the synthgoo from Nibiru? But what was really bad was all the detritus the goo picked up.It was all shoved into the rolls. I guarandamnwelltee you would in no way put one of these coins in your shoe...Socks, no socks, hazmat gear...

All the coins, two wheats, the coppers, the zincers they are all going back to the wild. Yuck.

I should apologize to the CU's coin counter after I (try ) to run them thru.

I like the idea of walking on copper pennies all day long.. but I don't own any "penny loafers."
