Totally can relate! Never found a 1909, but my heart jumps a little every time I see a 1955. "please be a double-die, please be a double-die" as I reach for the magnifying glass... I know you can see the double-die without magnification, but I'd even settle for one of the less-doubled 'poor man's' varieties.

Congrats on the find!

Nice find about a year ago I was sorting on a Sunday night when I found a 1909 S VDB. I could hardly sleep that night, sold the coin for $500 the next day. I wish I would have researched more on this site before selling. You can always get good advise here from very knowledgable individuals

Yes not to rub it in but, if it had any quality to it at all you now realize it was probably worth quit a bit more than you sold it for. But at least you found one. I am still looking for my first one. As many wheats as I have searched I should have found one by now. I guess I will just have to give up and buy one.

Great find...congrats!

I have yet to find a 1909. The closest I have gotten was a 1910-S about two weeks ago (about $14.00 RB); of course, it immediately went into the Dansco folder. :)

Rosco's story is painful. I think his glass was half full.

Nice find. It's hard to duplicate that feeling of finding a good one

Congrats,

I literally found my first 1909 on the 200th anniversary of Lincolns birth. No VDB though.
