What is the secret for taking good pictures of coins?

Postby aaa30040 » Sat Jul 09, 2011 3:24 pm

Everyone here takes such good quality pictures of their coins and I can't seem to figure out how to do it. What's the secret?

I always wondered the same thing. I tried macro setting on my camera and still wasn't having much luck, the lightingis tricky. A flsh will make it look bad but its also tough finding any other good lighting situations.

What I started doing was scanning the images and they come out as good if not better than any others I see on websites or ebay. I just have a cheap $30 cannon scanner printer, copier from walmart that works great

A decent camera with a great macro setting and the hit and miss in using the flash or other light sources....once you find the right combination...you'll have great coin pictures!

Iphone 3g or better

Or...

Buy a nice camera and light it well

any scanner is a lot easier than a camera. if you use a camera, definitely figure out the macro setting. its usually indicated by a tulip-flower shaped icon.
