I found a penny today that is missing the entire obverse...You can somewhat see lincoln, but its just...weird

The reverse is in perfect detail...

Any idea if this is worth anything?

Have you weighed it? I'm trying to make out the word Liberty and looks like it says Wine something.
Could be struck thru a piece of plastic. Its pretty wild looking thats for sure.

Don't have a scale :(

But it definitely says liberty, just hard to read on the scan for some reason...

Mine looks quite similar to yours! Thanks for the link...

Ill go to a coin store tomorrow and make sure it wasn't acid...and I too will keep mine, I just wanted to know if it had any value...

is it copper or zinc? if zinc then there is no way it could be from acid, you would see the zinc core where the acid ate throught the copper plating.
if it was struck through grease then it was a lot of grease and I'm sure an error collector would pay a couple of dollars for it.

can you see the date at all?

from the reverse, it is definatly 1993 or after, so, it would have to be zinc (it is a close AM)

I wish I could see the date! My bet is on zinc though, based on the sound test...

I wrote Mike Diamond President of CONECA http://conecaonline.org/
and--

t's real, but it's not a grease strike. It's a generic capped die strike. It was struck through a late-stage die cap.
