12 to 15 cents according to mint mark from what i've read. Some other more knowledgable members here may shed some better light.

You could soak em in naval jelly to get rid of the rust.

I have heard 3 to 4 cents each for rusty ones, 6 to 7 cents for nicer ones. and 2 cents each for the @$^%$^@%^$#^ reprocessed ones.

Where do you think the jelly comes from,
twist the lint like an old wet towel ;)

I've seen a couple places in Numismatic News and Coin World that buys rusted ones at something like $3 per roll. I'm sure those are the ones that are sent somewhere to be reprocessed into fake uncirculated "gems."

Thanks for all the responses I sure appreciate it. I will try the naval jelly, and see what happens.

Some people I have came across treat Steel cents like mystical treasure. They carefully roll up very beat up and rough steel cents and hoard them away from the light of day. Never really made sense to me considering millions of them were produced. :?
