I just sorted my first 25.00 box of pennies that I got from the bank. I ended up with 662 copper pennies plus 12 wheats. Is that an average box? It had more wheat pennies than I expected but I thought I would get more copper

Ive been averaging less than 500 coppers and about 8 wheats per box in my area (South Florida)...

I too expected more :(

I recently started purchasing boxes as well. Went through $100 in the past 4 or so days, and I would say about 1/4-1/3 are copper. Seems like I find a lot of '64, '74, '77 and '80 for the copper, and most of the newer clad are 2000 up. Wheats not so plentiful other than one box I had, which was about 18 total in that particular box. The other boxes averaged roughly 4-8 wheats per box.

It really depends on what part of this great land you reside. Georgia, and Arizona seem to be really low (12% maybe) and Wisconsin and Michigan pull around 30% or more. I live between Milwaukee and Chicago and have been seeing a steady 28%-32% since I started this in January with a few high 30%-low 40% mixed in to make me smile.
