In my sorting this eveing found a wheat that has some pretty severe die cracking on the wheat on the back (about 2/3's the length of the wheat stalk). The coin grades out between VF & EF. Was wondering about valuations on the thing?
As always, any help is appreciated.

I have never seen a die crack like that before. Usually, they are just raised lines going across the coins. This one almost looks like welding slag. Unusual to say the least.

I thought cuds were usually a piece of the die that breaks off usually on the edge and not inside of the die. But I guess a chunk could have fallen out in the crack area....and with nothing to press down to create the image....you'll have that "extra" copper. But I'm no expert.......maybe Abe knows.

Yes, from other forums I've been searching over a die chip is considered a "variation of a cud" ???
None the less. It's a nice example of a common error for the 50's wheat, from what I've been reading.
I should change my handle to "WTF is in my pennies" as this is the 2nd weird penny in as many months.
