Just wondering if anyone knows of any links to online calculators that convert pounds of copper pennies to number of pennies or face value. Thanks!

453.59237 grams per pound
3.11 grams per copper penny

453.59237/3.11 = 145.85 copper pennies per pound.

147, or $1.47, is usually the agreed upon number of coppers per pound taking wear and all into account.

Anyone who weighs their 1982's knows that you almost never....almost...that is ...find a copper cent in circulation that weighs 3.11 grams.

The 82's average between 2.99 grams on the low end to 3.09 on the high side. I calibrate my scale all the time.

So if you sell by the pound...use a scale!

So by TJCFs numbers, on average..

3.04 grams per copper penny

453.59237/3.04 = 149.21 copper pennies per pound.
