What a find

I went to one of my pick up banks and bought 3 boxes of pennies. They are unopened $25 boxes dated Nov 7, 1973 and 2 of them Mar 8, 1974. The teller also said they opened one other box which was brought in and should would gather the loose rolls up and I can pick them up tomorrow. She told me some kids had brought in 4 boxes they got from there grandfather. The boxes are marked Memphis Branch Federal Reserve Bank.

This definately will up my hand sorting percentage with 7500 uncirculated coppers.

I haven't opened up the boxes as they are not glued shut but rather stapled closed. I look forward to visiting the bank tomorrow to pick up the loose 74's

I wonder what they'd sell for as unc boxes. - I got a feeling it might be more than melt.

The 2010's and 2011's sell for more than melt, so it should mean that these would as well.

This great find also shows how ignorant kids these days can be with gifts from their elders. No sense of history, preservation, or sentimental value whatsoever (for the most part). But, their loss is an awesome gain for you! Good job!!

I soooo badly want to open the box with the Nov 73 date on it to see if it is perhaps a box of 73. Either way, they stack nicely. One box does show a bit of wear but that is to be expected after 37 years.

The teller called me today and she gathered up $20.50 of the loose remaining rolls. I did see some enders with 1981 date on them. Anyway, this turned out to be my best CRH. Here is a pic of some of the loose rolls.

The 2010's and 2011's sell for more than melt, so it should mean that these would as well.

Actually, ALL zinc cents sell for more than melt.

Can't go wrong with those! There should be a lot of wheaties in them, unless they're mint rolls, as coin collecting was a niche until the late '70s. Not much roll searching in '73.
