How many cents in a 5 gallon pail?

Postby BadThad » Wed Oct 13, 2010 8:14 pm

I've managed to absolutely, tightly PACK at 5 gallon pail with copper. How many cents do you think are in it? I have no clue, but I do know it's ultra heavy! LOL

Thanks

If you could weigh it, we could give you a pretty accurate number. I would guess and say $450 fv but only a guess. But I'm sure someone on here knows down to the cent!

I thought 5 gallons was 250 but when you shake it and pack it in, you can get 300.

If there is $450 in a 5 5 gallon add my CU total to 2 tons+ but don't think it's that much

:geek:. I have been using 5 gallon pails, and when the coins are fully settled a bucket holds 300.00 face value and weighs 200lbs.

My wife puts her change in the bucket....This would explain the extra $50-$100.....I couldn't figure this one out.....I didn't think her contribution was that much.

I sorted two 5 gallon plastic water jugs full of mixed pennies last year, one jug was 174 lbs, and the other was 172 lbs, each jug had around $300 face

Please tell me how that works? Don't copper pennies and zinc pennies take up the same amount of space?

I have a full five gallon jug that I've neither weighed nor counted. For purposes of counting my hoard, I calculate its minimum contents as $300 face or 200 lb. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if it contained more like $320-$325.

I thought we were talking about how many pennies fit into a five gallon bucket?? It doesnt matter if they're zinc, copper, or steel, the same number will fit into the bucket. . . no matter what they weigh.
Soooo... Is it just me or is a chart of US debt looking dangerously parabolic?

$250 fits with about 1 inch left of space...$292...bucket is full....at $300 of pennies the bucket of coin is crowned and the cents start to slide off of the crown. I was going to weigh the bucket but I couldn't pick it up...just to dang heavy! I used my brandt 749 counter and a homer bucket...was going to count this weekend anyway ;)

8-). If you slowly add the pennies and shake the coins frequently, you can max out the buckets capacity at 300 dollars face value. I used a coin scan counter/roller to determine this, a quick tip on the weighing is to put the empty bucket on the scale and than fill it, it should weigh aproximately 200lbs. :D

I don't bother to shake mine and try to get them to settle. $250 if you toss them in loose and leave a little space at the top. $300 if you shake them all down, get them to settle and max out the bucket. How the heck do you guys shake a 200 pound bucket?

Alright, follow-up question. How many cents can be put in a 5 gallon bucket IF THEY ARE ROLLED AND NEATLY STACKED? Sounds like a competition.
