Overcome with anxiety

Postby narragansett » Thu Sep 29, 2011 9:08 am

The head teller at the bank where I normally get a box of pennies a week called my wife yesterday. She said she got a call from another bank customer asking how many pennies they could cash in at one time. The teller called here & said that the person just retired and had been collecting pennies since 1963 & he had $700 worth. My wife told the teller that we would take them all. I cannot wait to get my hands on them. Hopefully the person was just a hoarder & not a collector.

Why would being a collector be bad? Collector's have way better stuff! BU coins, numismatic ones, etc. Worth way more than 3 cents each :)

I meant that he kept the good stuff (numismatically speaking) and was just dumping what was left which would include a lot of copper and is not really that bad.

Win Win for both of you. The bank didn't want them cluttering up the vault for a week, and you got a potentially rich vein to mine.

Nice of them to give you the heads up. Must train my tellers better.

So what happened with this? I may just be a skeptic, but doesn't this kindof sound like a line a RC member would give a new dump bank?

"Hi, I have a lot of coins that I've been collecting for "X" years, and now I want to *dump* i mean return them to your bank. How many could i *dump* i mean return to your branch?"

I think i'm just a little jealous. Nice find, and I hope they aren't presorted...

Unfortunately, I have yet to get the pennies. The party has not brought them to the bank yet. I just hope that the teller did not spook them away by saying that she knew someone who collects pennies & will take them all. Sometimes she says things that aren't too bright.
