If you're new to this, the easiest silver to find on a budget is dimes:

  • You will find them more frequently than silver nickels
  • A box of dimes weighs 10lb less than a box of nickels
  • A silver dime is worth more than a silver nickel
  • Most importantly, dimes in boxes are usually rolled in clear plastic, and you can quickly check the edge of the entire roll to see if any of the dimes are silver. That means you don't even have to check them one-by-one, which is a huge time saver.

Dimes: $250 per box.

Careful when you dump dimes. Many coin counters tend to accept a bunch as pennies. You can quickly get into the negative if you are just finding one silver per box and then losing out on a few bucks when you dump the clad.
