Where is the best place to buy .999 nickel? Would pre-82 Canadian nickels be better than bars & rounds.

You might try coin shops as we have found more than one the sells Canadian at face are less.

It all depends on your preference. Weight for weight, nothing beats the pre-82 Canadian nickels. They will cost you around 10$ a pound plus shipping. For bars and rounds, the price ranges from 30$-160$ a pound depending on the size and weight.

Being in Canada, I see the % of .999 nickels dropping over the last 3 years. Each box I handsort yields about 2lbs of pre-82s.
