Went to the CU today to dump. Vault teller said she had some large dollars. Took them all. 1140 clad Ikes. Now that I have them, what do I do with them. Hard to sell on ebay, impossible to sell locally on craigslist. Any suggestions?

List them here. There's usually someone willing to make it worth your time to ship 'em.

If you use them at flea markets you can negotiate way better prices.

Hi there-
You sure it's hard to sell on ebay? Yes, I know they have their crappy fees but I would think you can probably clear $1350-$1400 for the lot and after the 10% fee on ebay you would still have $100 profit- that's only at $1.25 per ike.
It might be cool to put together a date set out of the coins if they are in better shape- those would probably sell better? Or maybe you can list specific rolls of dates.
trade em? maybe you can get a couple ctu's at a great price for them?
if no bites here, try some other forums perhaps.

Just be certain you don't have any 40% Ikes in that lot!

You could spend 'em. They are fun to leave as tips or to pay your lunch tab with.

If you're inclined, check for the '72 type 2. If you need to unload them faster than you could spending them, put 1000 in a bag and take them to a different bank you have a good relationship with. That way the bank can put them on their next outgoing coin shipment and not get stuck with them in their vault.
Last summer I bought a bag from TCF that was getting ready to do just that. I went through them and found nothing, so I re-bagged them and took them to Charter One and dumped them there. Funny enough, another customer observed what was going on and asked if he could buy them...

I have a little stack if Ikes and I was wondering if anyone had a link to a resource that shows what to look for to find the different "types" that are worth saving. Also, an easier question. Do the 40% silver ones appear just like the 40% Kennedy's where you can just edge search them. I have never held a 40% Ike before.

Yeah, you should be able to tell the difference like the halves. Also, all silver Ikes are "S" mints. But also know that not all "S" mints are silver.

Really cool! Did you get them at face value? If so, even cooler!

An A-Mark one ounce bar is shaped more like a miniature brick than a standard bar. I am not sure if this design is even made anymore. Yes, it was good to get a premium and get rid of them. The Ikes were taking up too much room. Still, a reasonable premium and a new buyer.

I'm interested in all dollar coins with the expection of the new presidential dollar coins. Also looking for the new new ATB quarters. Particularily in ming wrappings.
