a good saturday morning.
i stopped at my local pickup for the long weekend. i noticed that one tray of pennies were
mostly 'old' looking rolls. they only had 8.00 of nickels to spare.
i went out to the truck and opened the nickels, figuring to turn them in at the next stop.
welllllllllllll, they were all old. the first roll was 20 -1940 and 20-1941. the next was all
39p, the third was 41s. the forth being another split of 39/40.
naturally i went running back in. begging for more of the funny purplish colored wrappers.
then i get the explanation that someone brought in coin the day before. there were another 5
rolls. which of course i went right back out to look at.
a roll of 42d, 60 coins of 43p, another was a roll of 45 p, more 40s and 41s.
oh joyous day.
finally i opened the bag that had the pennies. and to my now, not surprised eyes befell a roll
of 1919, 27, 40, 42, 43 steel, 2 rolls of 44, a roll of 46, 51d, 55, 55d, 56, and 57d. 13 solid
date rolls that had the dates written on them.
and of course the boohoo part. she had given away all the other pennies that morning to her
''merchant accounts' . so somewhere there are more full rolls of wheats being given out as
change. unless the store owners are knowledgable enought to keep them.
