I want to start getting into nickel... cause i honestly see it taking off like silver at some point in the future and i want to be ready when it does.

when stacking say Canadian beaver nickles, i need to look for 82 and prior correct?

and when stacking, how many are in 1 troy oz? and in 1 lbs.?

Finally, do most people stack this by the oz. or by the pound?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

The easiest reference for the years you want is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nickel_(Canadian_coin).

Freshly minted nickels were 4.54g, and a pound is roughly 454g, so a hundred nickels to the pound.

I believe a Ryedale will sort them for you similar to cents so you can do it pretty quickly.

And there are definitely lots of buyers when/if you ever want to sell!

Thanks for asking these questions, I'm starting to collect nickels also. Hoping to find lots of war nickels as I do it.

I've only managed to find 7 War nickels during my searches in the wild. But they are out there....

Most people on this site average 1 war nickel per $100 box of nickels. some a little better than others depending on your area. Godd luck to you and do not allow yourself to be discouraged-stick with it! If you can find a bank that will "sell" you customer wrapped rolls(CWR), you can run into some nice veins of silver

How did the topic switch to US nickel discussion?

Gather/hoard by the pound.
They aren't as easy as you'd like for them to be to find/buy.

And even though nickel has dropped to $7 / lb, you will be hard pressed to buy them, even in bulk for less than $10/lb.
