Best CWR Nickels Roll So Far?

Postby HPMBTT » Wed Dec 01, 2010 8:02 pm

Alright, so I just had the best CWR nickels roll so far, and the 23 total CWR rolls I just sorted wasn't too bad either. In a single roll I had 35 Pre-1960s..can you believe it?? I know what you're thinking...big deal; after all, you didn't pull any war nickels etc...

Totals for 23 Customer wrapped rolls were 48 Pre-1960 (earliest 1940) and two CDN nickels 1975,1981 (99.9% Ni). Plus I added two (non Pre-1960) nickels in my Dansco folder that I didn't have yet plus seven (7) regular nickels upgraded too (better quality, all five Monticello steps etc). All in all, it was a good night. :) And hey, it doesn't even include how many new Pre-1960s I will ALSO add to my Dansco folder.

Alright then, so let's see how well you guys have fared then...come on now, lay down those numbers! Bragging rights are extended only to what you found in a single CWR nickels roll from a bank, business, friend etc. (Although we won't mind if you brag about your totals, if you had more than one CWR roll) Sorry, I don't have a prize to give.

hmmm... i've never searched CWR's of nickels, so I can't respond to that.

however, good job on finding what you did! it's nice finding pre-1960's.

Best nickel search was somewhere around one year ago and I had picked up about $5.00 in loose nickels for face value from the local coin shop.

I found 1/1950D, 1/1938D, 1/1938S, 1/1939D, and 1/1939S. All five key dates. :D

I went back with the nickels and offered them back to him but he swears he had no idea they were in there and he had sold me the coins at face value and they were mine to keep. That was the start of my nickel album of 1938 - 1964 and I only have one slot yet to fill. All have been placed in my nickel album at face value. Almost all were from searches, a few of the war nickels I had to go into some I had found when we had our business or as a child and looked through those to fill all spots of war nickels still remaining except for one.

I've even upgraded many coins for my album through my searches in the past year.

Enjoy your coin searches, everyone. :geek:

Edited to try to attach images of my five key date nickels.

Sweet! Yeah, I don't have any of those five key dates in my Dansco folder yet. :( I just checked.

What does CWR mean? I assume CDN means Canadian.

CWR=Customer Wrapped Rolls

Hmm...I think this was over 3 rolls:
23 War Nickels
~80 Pre-60

Another amazing bunch of rolls (I think this was 8 rolls)
0 War Nickels
~250 Pre-60s
1 Die break error
several BU 60s and 70s

And then also a one-roll huge find:
5 WN
4 Buffaloes
~25 Pre-60s

My best roll was a complete roll of dateless buffalo nickels.
