So I've had a box of nickels sitting idly in my closet for about a year or two and I decided to take a look at it in the past week. When I looked at all the roll ends, it appeared every single one of them was a roll of uncirculated 2009-D nickels. I am aware of the low mintage figures of the 2009 nickels in general and I've only found a few in previous occasions in circulation. My question to you is concerning the value of this box in both the short term and long term. Am I right to have the urge to continue sitting on this box of nickels in anticipation of potential numismatic value?

Look at the price history of the 1950-D nickel.

Sell now while there is good value to be had. Keep a few rolls if you want to speculate.

I would bet that if you put them up on ebay and wait long enough, then you'd be able make some money. Look at these completed listings, some people are paying just stupid amounts for these things.

At those prices, I will take my chances in the wild!
