Beginner's luck strikes again

When I sorted my first box of pennies (hard to believe that was 9 months ago...) I found 26 wheat pennies. I've never had that ratio again since. Not even close.
Today I sorted my first box of nickels and again had some good beginner's luck: There was a war nickel in the first roll I searched! The first time I've tried looking for silver and I got some in the first roll. I also got one other war nickel, 2 buffalos (both dateless, unfortunately), and maybe 15-20 pre-60s in the box. Not bad for my first try.

You are tempting me to try nickels again. I've yet to find anything. Nice finds!

Nice score. Because I buy the clear plastic rolls, I usually tempt myself into cherry-picking nickel rolls for the ones that contain coins darker in tone, so I get to access the silvery goodies first and foremost. So I've also technically found War Nickels in the very first roll of the box, but I cheat.
Still, though, 2 buffs and 2 wars in one box is something I can't ever boast. That's incredible. Are you searching CWRs? Because if so, I'd go back to that bank and see if they have any more from the same batch.

Nope, just a box... I believe N.F. String and Sons or something like that. It's a box I've been hoarding for a while from a bank I can't usually get boxes at... hopefully the ones at my new regular pick-up bank are as good.

let's see now...
1st box of cents = score
1st box of nickels = score
what's taking you so long? Go get a box of dimes, quarters and half dollars!

Nickels have always been good for me. Plastic brinks rolls and I avg 1 war nickel a box. It normally takes a year to get 10 rolls and a box of 50-59 and 38-49.
It's there for the taking, you just have to go through the volume.

I'll be getting my first halves tomorrow, and dimes probably next week. I hadn't planned on doing quarters, but maybe it's worth trying just once...

I've never had any luck with quarters ever, just FYI. Few people do have luck it seems, although I could be wrong.

I've heard some people have been getting lucky with dimes this time of year.

In my first box ever, first roll, first coin was a war nickel, the rest of the box had nothing. Even only getting 1 silver coin per box, is such a better feeling than pulling 25%+ of copper per box

Anytime I find War Nickels in a box, or even a 2009 nickel.... it always makes my day!

Beginner's luck struck harder than ever today with my first box of halves. I searched row by row. The first row yielded one 1945 walking liberty half. Already satisfied at that point. Second yielded 2 40%. 3rd yielded another. 4th... one more. 5th... one more.
1 90% and 5 40%. Suffice it to say, I love halves (and beginners' luck).

I need to rub your belly for good luck. Amazing finds.

Some of my best finds have come from boxes of nickels, including Liberty's, Buffalo's and War nickels in the same box.

No beginner's luck in my first dime box. One silver (1964). Better than nothing, but I was hoping for a bit more...

I'm guessing that I had a little bit of beginner's luck as well, though clearly not as much as yours....
I just finished my first box of Nickels over the weekend and came out with (1) 1945 War Nickel and about 29 Pre-60's
