I just opened this weeks 2 boxes of nickels.

One is my first box of new 2013s :D 2013 P it is. Unfortunately they mixed a few older coins in with them so I can't sell it as pure... Oh well, it's a hole filler.

The second box was not new nickels... instead... one of the rolls has a 1909 liberty nickel ender  Hopefully there's some other good stuff in that box as well...

If you have a legit 1909 end roller you can easily sell it on ebay for a nice profit.

Is 1909 a particularly good year for nickels? I know it is for pennies.

I could sell it, but I kind of want to open it... and it probably wouldn't sell any better than a fake one anyway.

I searched the whole non-2013 box except that role. No other Libertys, no buffalos, not even a war nickel. Oh well. I still haven't opened that role, but I doubt there's anything else in it... I'm not sure how long I can resist...

So, just curious, do you just search the nickels or do you keep them as well? I have searched a few boxes and have found some interesting items including 19 silver and 10 Canadian .999 (1929 as well) I started it with the intention of just looking for the silver but when I saw all the varied dates still out there, I started a collector book for my little grandchild! Many nickels are still available since they are the one coin not really searched out.

I have about 2 boxes I'm keeping, but I mostly just search because I don't have much money (and no income) and more of it's always going into copper pennies. So most go right back to the bank. I have an order for 2 boxes a week, and the bank could get me more if need be, so I wouldn't have a problem loading up ahead of debasement. I agree nickels are less searched. You can't edge search for silver like dimes/quarters/halves, and there aren't wheat backs like pennies, so more older stuff is left. Very hard to find anything pre-38 compared to pennies, though.

I have a dansco album. I have everything from 1960 onward other than 1968-D and 2009-P filled in, but I've just been saving the pre-60s in a bag so far. I'll probably go through them soon.

Yes I kind of just used the little savings toi get some coins and hope for the older ones. I try to save all the nickels I receive in change. They keep talking about debasing the penny (more)) and nickle so I'm trying to just keep them if I can
