Are 2009 nickels still worth anything?

Postby scyther » Sat May 25, 2013 5:43 am

I know these were valuable when they first came out, and they're still pretty rare in circulation (especially Ps, I find those as often as V nickels), but can you still sell them for anything over face value? I have maybe 20 2009 Ds in around average circulated condition.
267,500 pennies and 186,000 nickels searched. Hand sorter.

Are they worth anything? Sure they are.

I keep everyone of them I can find. I'm not going to pay a premium to get them, however.

Seems the P uncirculated ones at least have some premium. Don't see as many circulated D ones, which obviously what I have most of.

I just rescued a few from the collection. I'll keep doing that until I have enough to sell to someone here.

If they don't have premiums now they should eventually. The mintage on 2009 nickels as well as dimes was very low, but obviously the nickels have intrinsic metal value and are my preference.
Silver: the Rodney Dangerfield of precious metals.

If it's printed on a piece of paper it's worth the paper it's printed on.
If it's a digital asset it's worth the electrons in cyberspace.
