Had some paper to invest and waiting to find a deal I decide to put some of it back into metals. Went to four different banks and was barely able to scratch up $65.00 in nickels. Even less in pennies.
Considering all the chatter on you tube, the boob tube and the internet is nickel collecting (saving) becoming more mainstream and is anyone else finding that locating nickels is becoming more dificult.

Haven't tried lately, bought my existing stash in Nov-Jan. But even then, it was far better to order in advance. From a major branch I bought the two they had and ordered 7 more, (it took a week) telling them I was getting them for Christmas for presents (didn't say it was a present for me!). Bought the rest a box at a time from various branches (when they had one) every time I went in for some other reason (pennies mostly), until I had enough. I've still been picking up the odd box now and then. Keep in mind that in most places (except for those near casinos with nickel slots) only a few branches keep more than an extra box on hand, and many may not have that. The recent interest probably has them a bit harder to find.

I have been accumulating nickels as a byproduct of searching for copper pennies. There is not any apparent shortage, because when I go to the bank to buy pennies, the teller will often ask if I would like a bag of nickels too. I have accumulated about as much face value in nickels as I have in copper. Of course the copper has a higher melt value for equivalent face value, but sure is a lot more work.

No problems getting pennies or nickels in mid Georgia area.

I have increased my holdings of nickel boxes, but I have not had an issue getting them.

I get a box every time I ask, they don't even hesitate.

My main bank is discouraging the use of any kind of coin, period. Soooo, now they are my dump bank!

Huh, wow. I just picked up another box from Regions yesterday. Still no issue getting from them.
