Simple question... how many US nickels does it take to weigh a pound?

And two related questions:
How many to equal a pound of pure nickel?
How many for a pound of pure copper?

91 Nickels to 1 lb

121 to make 1 lb of Copper
364 to make 1 lb Nickel

For Canadian It is very close to 100 .999 Ni to 1 lb.
For example Nickel is $10.4980 / lb and according to coinflation the .999 Nickel is worth $.1040225.

I found a website called Copper Cave. They are selling 5 pounds of .999 Canadian Nickels for 71.50. Price seems a bit high. What do you think?

Put another way... they weigh 5 grams each. There are 453.6 grams per pound. Divide the big number by the small one to get the nickels in a pound. A US 5 cent piece is 1/4th nickel by weight so it takes 4 pounds of coin to make a pound of nickel. And 4/3 of a pound to make a pound of copper. That's the logic of how to figure it for yourself.

Converting to pounds causes unnecessary confusion when you're dealing with nickels. All you need to remember is 100g equals $1 face value.

My dump bank uses half bags, so when I take them back I just weigh out 10Kg/bag and leave them with the teller.

Well, I ordered something from them a few months back and got everything I asked for in good order and condition. I also just ordered some things last night, and I will expect the same service from them

However, my original question about the Canadian nickels....is $71.50 for 5 pounds too high of an asking price? I know the .999 nickels have some premium, but again I don't know. Thoughts? Not sure what the FV of 5 pounds would be either...

Or maybe I would have better luck with the Canadian nickels at a coin dealer or show?

You'll probably get a better deal if you put a wanted ad in the marketplace section of the forum.

Five pounds is approx. $25.00 face in Canadian nickel. Based on coinflation price it has a value of 36.28 approximately.

Wow! So the price of 71.50 for 5 lbs is TOO much, based on this info. I thought so.

Not long ago it wasn't such a bad price.

I received my stuff in the mail today! I ordered a 1 kilo copper bullion bar...gotta say it looks pretty sweet The premium was kinda high, but I just wanted to have one for myself! I picked up 3 rounds with the phases on Lincoln's life on them. They also look really nice too! A bit pricy, but I figure it doesn't hurt to buy something like this once in a while.
