People are clueless.. And mainly idiots. I mean I'm not one to call names but come on... The guy refers to it as a "$50 donation". Some bank teller is going to have a really good day.

The person accepting the $1400 coin called it a $50 donation te face value. It's like taking in a roll of 64 halves and them cashing them in at the bank for $10.

The guy who donated the coin would flip out if he learned that the coin was cashed in for $50. He made a donation that should be recognized for what it is really worth. The cause is greater than anyone's greed. Wherever this article was written, someone should contact the author and inform him that the coin is worth much more than $50. It would be a shame to see the guy's donation only go as far as $50...

That's right, what MH said. It's certainly not the donor's fault. The money shouldn't simply disappear and then benefit a PM fan like us who gets it from the bank. I'm not against us of course; but in this case, that donation needs to be used as intended.

The author of the article has an email, just click on his name. I sent a polite message with the info. I wish one or two more people here would also do so, especially someone in the PM business such as MH. (You know media, they are taught only to believe "authoritative sources" with fancy titles.)

Bet someone buys it for $50 once the money is on the table to sort out.

A follow-up article will be posted by the author of the article. They are now aware of the coin's actual value and it will be sold for much more than $50.
