My bad story of buying a silver eagle on EBAY

Postby Pennysaved » Thu Oct 11, 2012 8:39 pm

I bought what I thought was going to be a 2009 Uncirculated silver eagle from a seller in AZ with 98% positive feedback.

The ad said:
2009 walking liberty uncirculated dollar

THIS IS UNCIRCULATED AND IN CASE. BUY NOW AND MAKE MONEY LATER. .999 SILVER

The photo in the listing was obviously one of those frosty white Eagles that you see

When I opened my package today, I saw a proof like looking coin.

I knew right off the bat it was not the real thing but was hoping it would at least be a 1 ounce silver round.

I flipped the coin over and it said COPY on the eagle breast and 71 mg 0.999 pure SILVER CLAD

Obviously this was not the coin I thought I was buying.

I sent the seller an email and filed a claim.

She did not respond to me instead she escalated the case and is allowing ebay to decide it.

Don't fret you will win as long as you state "significantly not as described". Worse case you can send it back for a full refund.

You want a link to the auction?

Just made me feel like they were hoping some sucker was going to buy it and wouldn't know the difference when they got it in the mail

Lots of people fishing for suckers on e-bay. I saw a .999 german silver round go for about 45 dollars today. Of course german silver actually contains no silver so the .999 is purposefully misleading. You can get fat on suckers but you will be a fat scumbag which is not very nice at all and your soul will feel pretty icky as well.
