I hope this is real, but something tells me this might be a scam.

I would have gambled a buck on that! I see nothing blatant to indicate it is fake (like the 100mils gold bar on his other items for sale list)

It was real, but it was an error in the listing.

From the seller's feedback page:

Positive feedback rating

Really? How about the fact that the serial number for the item described is not what is pictured... and it states you will win the one that is pictured?

So, tell me how this works. If you list an item with no reserve and it ends up selling way under what you expected, you can just pull the auction by stating you made an error? Thought that option went away once it had bids. Pretty nice out if you ask me...though I'm hoping ebay keeps track if how often a seller pulls that stunt.

I think the seller listed it as a BIN @ .99 instead of an auction starting @ .99. Just my guess.

Yep, had it done to me at least once with a book lot. Won fair and square, I then get a message that the guy won't ship it to me, claiming he made an error. Refunded my money when I specifically told him not to and tried to get him to honor his auction. I gave that ****er negative feedback and reported him to eBay. The kicker is I was watching a near similar lot elsewhere, and that sold for $25 more than what I won it at. Seller envy.
