I begin to notice, on Ebay, in about the last 5 days...IN ROLLS, you are DEFINITELY seeing not only lowered bids, but lower trades for all but the highest value numi's.
I've also noticed, what seems to every tom dick and harry, who needs to raise frins, suddenly popping up and offering a lot of high mint number 90%'ers, like the 1964's and 63"s...halves, quarters and dimes....and they're trading anywhere from 20 times to 26 times face.
I didn't really think i'd EVER see that again, when really GOOD rolls of 90's would trade 20 times face...but we are there. I have NOT seen anything trade, in the $10 FV rolls, ($5 FV rolls for the dimes) trade BELOW 20 times face...its almost like 20 times face is a very important psychological barrier. will it get broken? I don't know.
I've also noticed that as time goes by, i'm seeing less and less rolls of Morgans and Peace dollars.....and i'm seeing less and less Walking Liberty Halves....there are two rolls right now offered, that are a rarity, and the bid reflects this. one is an OBW 1940-S the other an OBW 1942-S.....click the links and you will just exclaim, what the frick!...here:
1940-S Walking OBW

1942-S Walking OBW

yeh, you read it right...the 40-S roll is going for 100 times face, and the 42-S is going for 90 times face....but two things, both bidders are not a noobies, one has over 4600 transactions, the other 1600....these guys are duking it out, and second I have NEVER seen a YELLOW coin bank roll like these....its kind of neat. I KNOW its a numi thing. I think in many ways, this will presage the future, where you see ANY 90%'ers of quality, even up until 64, trade above 100 times.
why do I say that?...have you guys looked at M2 Money velocity charts?...its the rate that currency circulates thru the general economy....its unbelievable...it spikes DOWNWARD at an extreme angle....simply money is NOT flowing thru the economy....we have a bubble now in equities, in student loans, in CAR loans...and I don't what the event would be that trips it all, but we all remember 2008, in the Lehman moment, and then the crushing of silver down to $9, and I DO remember very clearly being able to buy rolls of high quality 90's at 12-15 times face, and rolls of ASES between $300-360.....but never at $9 the toz.
